Adobe Systems, famous for its multimedia and creativity software products has recently signed an agreement with Magento to buy e-commerce CMS Magento. The Magento platform will bring together Digital Commerce, Order Management and Predictive intelligence into a unified commerce platform which will enable shopping experience across a wide range of industries. Adobe buys Magento for $1.68 billion.

Magento the best Ecommerce platform
For many years, the Magento platform is regarded as the best choice for clients who want to develop e-commerce stores. It is understood that Magento platform supports more than $155 billion merchandise volume in gross.

Presently Magento is available as Open Source version which can be customized by developers and a Paid Ecommerce version which has additional tools for staging, Loyalty program management and Managed cloud hosting. The active Magento community has contributed a lot of plugins which has expanded the CMS capabilities.

Magento platform has the ability to scale, which is supported by very active and vibrant community of more than 3, 00,000 developers are the main reason for its big success in the market. Magento partners have provided thousands of pre-built plugins like Payment, Shipping, Tax, Logistics etc.

Magento has a lot of e-commerce customers including brands like Canon, Helly Hansen, Paul Smith and Rosetta Stone. Adobe and Magento share joint customers including Coca-Cola, Warner Music Group, Nestlé and Cathay Pacific.


Another Big acquisition by Adobe
Adobe buys Magento to diversify from the digital media products that made it one of the world’s largest software companies.  This is the third biggest acquisition of Adobe. This would help the Photoshop software provider to create an end to end system for designing Digital designs, Building e-commerce website, Digital Ads and completing transactions.

As per the deal, which is expected to be signed in the third quarter, Mark Laveller, CEO of Magento would lead Magneto as part of Adobe’s digital experience


Embedding E-commerce into Adobe Experience
Brad Rencher, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Digital Experience, Adobe said  “Adobe is the only company with leadership in content creation, marketing, advertising, analytics and now commerce – enabling real-time experiences across the entire customer journey,” and also said. “Embedding commerce into the Adobe Experience Cloud with Magento enables Adobe to make every moment personal and every experience shoppable.”

Mark Lavelle, CEO, Magento said “Adobe and Magento share a vision for the future of digital experiences that brings together Adobe’s strength in content and data with Magento’s open commerce innovation. We’re excited to join Adobe and believe this will be a great opportunity for our customers, partners and developer community.”


Adobe to compete with Salesforce, Oracle and SAP

There is a competition between companies like Salesforce, Oracle and Adobe to own and be successful in digital customer experience market, like providing support for marketing, E-commerce, Personalisation and Data management. Till now Adobe was missing Ecommerce.

Adobe’s acquisition of Magento would help the San Jose based company to compete with Salesforce, Oracle and SAP SE in cloud-based commerce service.

It is expected that Adobe will change the way Magento is available to Business and Developers.
