BigTree Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., owner of ‘BookMyShow’ recently announced that they have acquired ‘Burrp’, a Mumbai based food and restaurant search engine. Burrp is India’s oldest search engine for food and restaurant listing more than 60,000 restaurants. Sources say that Network18 has sold the struggling Burrp, including its employees and restaurant partnerships in forteen cities for just Rs.6.7 Lakh. Network18, owner of Burrp said “The consideration for the slump sale is Rs6.7 lakh and has been determined on the basis of valuation carried out by EY.” The net worth at end of last financial year was at a negative of Rs28.89 crore, Network18 said.
BookMyShow has partnership over 2,100 Food retails brands like McDonald’s, Subway, Mainland China and over 1,100 cinemas all over India. BookMyShow has provision to pre-book their Food and Beverage available at cinemas while booking their movie tickets online or using their mobile app.

After acquiring Burp, the list of restaurants / café offering free discount coupons may raise which will add more value to BookMyShow. On booking cinema ticket through BookMyShow, user can pick two free coupons which can be redeemed at the restaurant or café within two days.
Burrp was founded in the year 2006 and it was doing good business till the launch of Zomato in India.
